“Muse” captures my personal muse, and close friend, Joao Camacho in his family home in Eastbourne. Shown in various Blur. projects, Joao is a 20-year-old Portuguese carer and gay man working throughout the pandemic as a senior key worker. Moving to England at just 11, alongside his mum and older sister, Joao fully internalised British culture, helping form his iconic and multi-cultural identity today; we wanted to highlight this with Muse, shooting Joao's natural family home life, but also including British references, with aspects of fashion trends and styling, and even displaying the typography of Joao's tattoo. Overall, aiming to produce a simple and intimate image series exploring both portrait and candid imagery reflective of the 'work from home' ethos within the current Covid climate.
