My Pandemic

Find Blur.'s take on Vogue's "The New Front Line" in a more emotive, documentary-style photo series titled "My Pandemic". Written, shot and styled by Rae on Minolta Dynax 500si 35mm 400. Modelled by Xisca Bibiloni, with clothing chosen from her uniform.

Shot by Rae.

Xisca Bibiloni is a student nurse, having worked through both care homes and hospitals throughout, and prior to, the pandemic. While dedicating her time non-stop to acting as a key worker throughout the Covid period, she has managed to keep up with her high college grade average, while also obtaining several university places to continue her study in September.

Inspired slightly by British Vogue's covers back in July 2020, we wanted to instead highlight the younger key workers, specifically in the healthcare sector, who have selflessly juggled the pressures of student and work life, as well as their mental health this past year. Looking to those just starting their careers, not having the luxury, safety-net option of working from home, particularly within working class and lower-income environments specifically. Considering lastly the social backlash regarding the political arguments within this subject, with Conservatives leading the 'Clap for NHS', rather than actual funding of the NHS, as no adjustments for salary or student loans have been made (worry not though, we definitely needed that £190 million memorial Royal Yacht more than our NHS service, right?).

Even if the government are incompetent in crediting them accordingly, we wanted to highlight the young healthcare workers, like Xisca, who have sacrificed so much of their time and energy to fight the impacts of the pandemic, even without full recognition and appreciation.
