TikTok is a new social networking app, originating from China in 2016 and turning social media, as we Gen Zers know it, upside down. TikTok is home to viral dance trends (we love you Renegade and Say So), memes, story-times and everything in between with over 3.7 million people in the UK using the app by April 2019. This app has been no competition to our previous favourites, beating Facebook, Instagram AND Snapchat as the most downloaded app from the App Store by more than a billion downloads worldwide.

This app might be our latest obsession, but is it a healthy one? Seeing the average screen time of a teen doubling since starting on the app, but it's continuous and innovate platform is too enticing to pass up; the way this app has moulded and formed it's way into multiple industries already is fascinating, with beauty gurus and fashion-lovers combined constantly evolving the industry in the easiest way possible.

TikTok allows you to take a lighthearted break and laugh for a little, it helps you understand and keep up to date with youth cultures like meme culture as well as being a new source of information, and a go-to newspaper replacement for us - the new Twitter if you will.

That no visible time feature gotta go though.
