Out of respect from the victims, and other queens from season 12 we will not be using any of Sherry Pie's imagery nor any season 12 imagery to avoid tarnishing their season due to the actions of one individual.
Sherry Pie, a constant from season 12 of RuPaul's Drag Race, has been disqualified before the season even aired. From the hype circulating this new season, it has come out from multiple different people that Sherry Pie, a friend of theirs at the time, sexually exploited, catfished and preyed on them for sexual gratification. Sherry is known out of drag as Joey Gugliemelli and used the alias 'Allison Mossey' to act as a female casting agent, ordering victims to use steroids and film sexually explicit and embarrassing content with the idea that they would secure a job role from the 'audition'.
Sherry's case, in particular, is extremely sinister as his victims were all friends of his, and he committed these crimes unscathed from his college years as a junior until after the filming of Drag Race.
VH1 and Drag Race have wasted no time in disqualifying Sherry after a Buzzfeed article and public apology posted by him on Facebook, as per usual the apology was for press purposes, so danced around the claim but ultimately did take responsibility for 'mistakes made'. The Drag Race production team have tried to create the best outcome possible, stating that for the sake of staff and the other queens in the season, the show will still go on as normal but instead, they stated they will try to limit Sherry's scenes, post a disclaimer on each episode, remove traces of her from their socials and she will not place in the lineup. Sherry has hidden behind her mask that is honing the skill of drag to get away with these disturbing claims for so long, but it's satisfying to see she is now facing the consequences and will not place in the Drag Race lineup, nor will be invited to any press and after-season shows and gigs.
Sherry Pie and Willam, the only two queens to ever be banned from Drag Race, should not be in the same category at all. Sherry is a preditor and should be seen as such, among villans like Jimmy Savile.
We can only wish that the victims get the help and peace of mind they deserve, and it's sad that a TV show that brings us such a culmination of happiness and pride of the community, can be the unveiling of such a horrific secret.
