Starting the season with a fresh colour palette, the most prominent shift we will see is from all-white to all-black; instead of the crisp, white fits we longed for this summer it's all back to black. Also continuing throughout the cooler months are the more neutral and earthy tones, fast-becoming wardrobe staples, with a particular focus on the blues. Breaking into the festive season we also expect to see a lot of reds, easily intertwined with the forthcoming block-colour trend, prominent in suits and blazers.

For Winter day-looks, taking into account the popularity of the cottagecore S/S20 trend, this can be easily translated to our Winter wardrobes. One guaranteed staple being big-knits with cardigans, sweater vests and jumpers on the rise, as well as sheer voluminous dresses similar to the success story which was the Lirika Matosh "strawberry dress" this past season. Paired with high socks, mini bags, and gold jewellery featuring classic chain necklaces and hoop earrings to complete the look.

Moving onto a more formal dress-code we will see many new trends and styles; the overall silhouette is set to be more "masculine", tapping into a less figure-hugging silhouette which is typically seen among womenswear fashion. Suits, particularly skirt-suits, will be a must-have, along with belted blazers and trench coats; it's said that the "Matrix" style, well-known to the New York fashion scene, will hit London's fashion landscape with leather coats, particularly black and brown, becoming a key trend. Trendspotter even go as far as to predict that the prefered wide-leg trouser style will be worn tucked into heavy boots or wellies, almost reminiscent of the Punk era with the upcoming return of check prints. Following other accessory trend predictions, we can also look forward to slouch heeled boots and wooden jewellery to further juxtapose and gender-bend the more masculine, womenswear Winter wardrobe.

Lastly, for night-glam, it's worth noting the similarities between the 2020 forecasted trends and the fashion highlights of the 1900 "roaring/golden twenties" - in terms of fashion, rather than their positive outlook, of course. This Winter we will see the return of fringe dresses and evening gloves, as well as metallic gold fabrics, balloon silhouettes and clutch bags.

Once again, we're seeing the return of many recycled looks and eras - from Punk, to camp, to classic 1970s - which suits our current generation of recommerce-loving fashion consumers, born to recycle and upcycle in order to create new aesthetic purpose. We truly can't wait to see what the fashionistas and creatives come up with this season; if we missed any of your favourite trends simply shoot us a DM via Instagram (@blur_mag) and with a bit of luck, we'll see you next Tuesday.
