Brands in the affordable, high street sector that we've been loving recently are those that are creating innovative fashion and retail spaces, introducing new aspects to fashion and those being fashion-forward.
Our #1 choice has to be Pretty Little Thing, raising the bar leaps and bounds each year - considering this online retailer started only in 2012, you can't deny the impact they've made on our mass market. For those searching for basics, affordable trends and fast shipping this ones for you! It's hard to find someone who hasn't had a PLT obsessed phase, but for those who don't know yet, look forward to PLT near you - not with a bricks-and-mortar store but in the form of a PLT café!
Coming in at #2 is our new favourite, Zara. They've had a bad rep for various reasons but we can't doubt the fact that they bring us innovate fashion and the closest to luxury that a budget queen could ask for. Find designer dupes, long-lasting garments and everything fashion, darling.
#3, ASOS, say no more. The perfect online destination to search, shop and compare brands from the high street market all the way up to luxury labels like DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger. Catch annual free next day delivery for under a tenner and compatible with student discount, what more could we ask for?
Topshop comes in at #4 for one reason only...accessories. Shop Topshop for the cutest bags, purses, jewellery, sunglasses, lingerie and anything in between. Using trendy colour schemes and prints to delivery mostly affordable products.
Lastly, we have Schuh at #5, unlike the other brands, Schuh is purely a shoe distributor and not a fashion house. Schuh is a favourite for us as there's always a hidden gem to be found in the sale section, and their 365 day returns policy is all we've ever needed!
High end never fails to impress us with their runways and glossy print campaigns, reminding us we're poor but we love it all at the same time. What designers are we loving? There's too many to count, but have a couple of our recent favourites.
A clear #1 for us is MiuMiu by Prada, and by that, we also mean Prada (duh). With interesting shapes, lines and silhouettes we're obsessed, bringing us granny in a way that is still youth and fashion through the eyes of cultured spectacles.
#2 we have MM6 Maison Margiela, who has been one of our favourites since those glittery, camel-toe heeled boots displayed in DSM. Where oversized meets grunge with a hint of period fashion, shout out to our favourite runway to date - Womenswear Resort SS19 which satisfied our genderless, Victorian school uniform fantasy with Punk culture undertones.
Gucci is a classic and fashion staple, our #3 is constantly hitting new levels of innovative and rule-breaking in fashion. With extravagant looks costing a pretty penny, we can never get enough. Not a fan of the clothing, a little too out there? Try their fragrances or eyewear, Gucci is killing the game in every product extension and we're living for it.
Coming in at #4 is Max Mara, an underdog consistently featured in Vogue. Max Mara always give us neutral and coffee-tone excellence in their garment colour palette but continue to keep it fresh and interesting each runway. Calling professional girls and our grunge girls too, Max Mara's sleek wardrobe has something for everyone.
Our #5 is less of a brand and more of a life-hack, let me introduce you to Vestiaire. Similar to Depop, this is where you can shop pre-owned or damaged designer items, Vestiaire allows you to shop from all around the world, and includes handy services like authenticity checking. Still a little pricey, but if you want some pre-owned designer for the low-low give them a browse!
Irregardless of gender, shopping is a person's best friend. We hope we've put you on to some new brands and encouraged you to shop where you normally wouldn't. Know any new3 boutiques or cool graduate designers we'd love? Get in contact via the contact form on our homepage or via our Instagram.
Happy shopping!
